Salsa de Cacahuate (peanut salsa), I fell in love with this salsa at first bite. Because I love anything peanut butter. I did a little research into Salsa de Cacahuate (peanut salsa). Come to learn that it is a very popular salsa in southern Mexico.
Salsa de Cacahuate (pronounced: “ka-ka-wa-tes”) a creamy, spicy salsa made from peanuts, chiles, garlic, ginger & onions.
There is no one way to make it as everyone’s Grandmother has her own version of this spicy little salsa.
It goes well as a dip or served as a topping for tacos, chicken, beef, and pork. Tonight, we are having it on beef fajitas.
Patti and I have set one night a week just for us. It’s our date night. We usually put something special on our Green Mountain Wood Pellet Grill/Smoker but sometimes we cook inside. We always eat outside on our patio where it is very comfortable with a rainforest theme. Wood Pellet Patio Heater, little lights, candles, lanterns, and surround sound. We enjoy a little wine, or strawberry margaritas using frozen strawberries for ice, good food, music and sometimes a dance or two…

Salsa de Cacahuate (peanut salsa) Recipe
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients: Salsa de Cacahuate (peanut salsa) Recipe
- A splash of olive oil
- 6 dried guajillo chiles, rough cut
- 1 sweet onion, rough chopped
- Chicken broth (about 2 cups to desired thickness) You can also use water.
- 1 cup peanut butter, chunky or creamy
- 2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
- 2 TBSP “Smoked Garlic Sauce” (Ours See recipe) or 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 TBSP fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tsp allspice powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp ginger
- ½ tsp dried thyme
Cooking Directions: Salsa de Cacahuate (peanut salsa) Recipe
In a skillet add a splash of oil with the chiles, onion, garlic, ginger, and thyme. Sauté until the onions are soft. This step smells so good I had to taste it. It was awesome before I even added the rest of the ingredients.
Remove from heat and let cool. Pour mixture into the blender and “Pulse” a few times to get it started.
Add the peanut butter, allspice, turmeric, pepper, salt, apple cider vinegar, with about 1 cup of broth.
Blend until smooth, add broth until you have the desired thickness. Keep in mind that this salsa will thicken as it cools.
It’s ready to serve now but if you give it some time for everything to blend and get happy it will be even better! You can serve it hot or cold, both good!

About our Recipes
We do our recipes on our patio where we have a lineup of grills, including Green Mountain, Uuni Wood Fired Pizza Oven, Sawtooth, Louisiana, Royall, Memphis, Traeger pellet grills, Char Griller side box smoker, Saber, Charmglow, Char-Broil, The Big Easy, Lodge Sportsman’s, Brinkman and Weber. Almost any of our recipes can be done on any kind of good BBQ.
The important thing to keep in mind is TIME & TEMPERATURE. You can do our recipes on any grill, even some of them in the oven or crock pot, but, then you lose all the flavors you get from cooking outdoors. But sometimes it does rain.
Remember that a recipe is simply an outline; it is not written in stone. Don’t be afraid to make changes to suit your taste. Take it and run with it….
