Uncle Bubba’s Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Uncle Bubba’s Whiskey BBQ Sauce, a delicious, easy and beautiful Texas style BBQ sauce to always have in your kitchen. It’s a great BBQ or dipping sauce. It can be served either hot or cold. This is one of those “Must Try” sauces!

Whiskey style BBQ sauces are very popular in Texas, Goes well with brisket, ribs, pork and chicken. It’s very easy to make, no cooking involved and just a little time in your blender. And you can easily adjust the whiskey flavor up or down to your taste!

The building blocks of most BBQ sauces are ketchup, apple cider vinegar and dark brown sugar. These together are good, but it’s easy to make them into something extra special and This Is Something Special! We used an Onion Garlic pasta sauce instead of ketchup for another layer of flavor.

A BBQ Sauce Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes 

Ingredients: Uncle Bubba’s Whiskey BBQ Sauce

  • 2 cups Onion Garlic Pasta Sauce
  • ¾ cup bourbon whiskey (more or less to taste)
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • ¼ cup minced garlic, smoked
  • 2 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 Tbsp. Butcher’s grind black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. Frank’s Hot sauce
  • 1 tsp. Chipotle chili powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped

Cooking Directions: Uncle Bubba’s Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Place your onions and garlic into a blender and pulse a few times to break them up a bit. Then blend until smooth.

Add the remaining ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth. Taste it and make any adjustments you may like to your taste.

Ready to serve!

The sauce will keep in the refrigerator for several weeks.

About our Recipes

We do our recipes on our patio where we have a lineup of grills, including Louisiana, Green Mountain, Sawtooth, Royall, Memphis, Traeger wood pellet grills, Char Griller side box smoker, Saber, Charmglow, Char-Broil, The Big Easy, Pacific Living Outdoor Oven, Lodge Sportsman’s, Brinkman and Weber. Almost any of our recipes can be done on any kind of good BBQ.

The important thing to keep in mind is TIME & TEMPERATURE. You can even do some of them in the oven or crock pot, but, then you lose all the flavors you get from cooking outdoors. But sometimes it does rain.

Remember that a recipe is simply an outline; it is not written in stone. Don’t be afraid to make changes to suit your taste. Take it and run with it….
